Archives for August 2011

Thank you, Netflix.

for being AWESOME. Just so you all know:
You can get Clarissa Explains It All on dvd!
I used to wish a had a best friend that was as cute as Sam and that could get to my room via ladder outside my window. My bedroom was on the first floor, about three feet up from the ground.
Boo.

Was anybody kind of jealous that she had a sandbox in her bedroom with a reptile in it? I didn’t really want the pet, but I just loved the fact that there was a a sandbox….

And no matter how many times I tried, I could never get my “tights under the rolled-up jeans” look to be as good as hers…
Sigh.

Oh Melissa Joan Hart, you made my awkward pre-teen years great. Thank you. And thanks to Netflix I will now be re-living those years in 1 to 2 business days. : )

Do It All: Plan Your Week

In my Do It All series, I talk about the benefits of moving your body in as many ways as possible. Doing the same thing all the time (hobby-wise or workout-wise) will burn you out and bore you physically and mentally. I try to to plan my week with different workouts/activities to mix it up and make things fun. That way I don’t have to be bummed about spending the typical hour in a gym every night. On my list this week?
Mountain Biking tonight…
I’ve just started learning
and on my third lesson so far
but I’m pretty sure I look like this:

Tuesday afternoon:
Jazz dance class at my friends’ studio.
Jumping is my favorite.
(That last line spoken like Buddy The Elf)

Wednesday morning:
Trainer jam session with friend/colleague Chris Mohr
using TRX, Rip Trainer, and sandbells

Thursday:
Hot Yoga
so I can get my stretch on…

I wish this a photo of me…

It’ll be a good week with a good mix of fun stuff. My body’ll get something new each day and will be stronger for it. It’s rough sometimes to get it all in, but scheduling these things in my planner ensures that I do it, and don’t plan anything else in that time slot. It works for me and I’m happier for it. Happy Monday guys, make it a good week!

“Hangouts” are the ish…

Reasons why Google+ “hangouts” are the ish:
1. You get to video chat with buds anywhere in the world.
2. It gives you a few seconds before you go live to check your hair.
3. When you’re chatting with your bud
and you both hold your hands to the side,
it looks like a high five.
Boom.

This is me and my buddy, Brian. Not only are we super cool, but now we can video chat and discuss horse racing at the Del Mar racetrack whenever we want.
I’m off to Chicago tomorrow so hope you guys have a great weekend! Holla! : )

Cool Tank

This top is my favorite top to work out in. It’s REALLY light which awesome when it’s a billion degrees out (or when it’s a billion degrees in your gym/house/garage/wherever you work out). It breathes easy, it looks great, and it’s Lululemon but don’t even trip, it’s not $1,000.

Only $39, people!
I have it in 4 different colors because it looks so great on.
With a blazer, or on your run!
Booyah.

Friends, I need your help. This is serious.

So my boyfriend, Ryan Gosling, will be meeting my friends soon (’cause we’re at that point in the relationship). He’s a little nervous on how to look when we all go out. I told him not to worry, but you know how boys get when it’s serious. So to ease his mind I took some photos of him in different looks this week and I’ll let you guys decide which we should go with…

1. We’ve got the “after work” but casual look.

2. The “bad boy” casual look…
or 3. The purely “professional” look.

I mean, he’s so stressed, he’s thinking of wearing nothing at all.
Which I wouldn’t necessarily complain about…

What do you guys think?

I don’t even know how this last one got in there… oops.
; )

Birthday Tango

Photobucket
After having a birthday party (cake and pie with fam and friends) on Wednesday, going to King’s Island and riding roller coasters on Friday, and going to Splashin’ Safari (water park) today, my birthday week festivities are finally over. ‘Cause I’m tired as ish! : )
Thanks to everybody for the well wishes and my great family and friends for spending this time with me. I’m so lucky…

Why I love Ted and Ann…

…well there are a million reasons why I love them, but I’ll start with just a few.

Note: Ted and Ann are former clients of mine in San Diego. They became friends of mine about 2 minutes after I started teaching them.

They’re the cutest couple ever,
…been married for decades,
…finish each other’s sentences,
etc.
Photobucket
They love dogs.
This is Peluche. (pronounced pah-loo-chay)
And even when I call him Patchouli,
they don’t correct me.
Photobucket
Ann might be the best cooker in the world.
She’s always making something.
Hence the ‘best cooker’ title.
Photobucket
We eat here:

When I visit, I sleep with this view:
Photobucket
Ann’s so meticulous.
She even types out the directions to work the t.v.
Photobucket
They have the greatest shower in the world.
My shower time increases drastically when I visit.
…just doing my part to help conserve water… riiiight.
Photobucket
And of the best things I’ve heard recently: Ted thought that my boyfriend post on Matthew McConaughey was real. Ann had to tell him who Matthew McConaughey was… priceless. : ) And since they read my blog frequently, they’ll be checking this out…
I miss you guys already and love you a ton!
Be back soon…

Guest Post! Miss B and Hustle

Hi! I’m Krissy, one half of Miss B and Hustle. I’m sooo honored to be asked to guest post on Fit with Flash! I’m a Cali girl living in rainy Portland (which I love 99% of the time) and until this past year, working out has been low on my list of priorities. I could just never motivate, but I think the key is finding something that works for you! I’m 100% addicted to Portland based barre3 and Corepower Yoga! I thought I’d share a few of my workout essentials!

  1. Lululemon pants. You can try other brands for slightly less $$, but you’ll always come back to your Lulu’s! There’s truly nothing better.
  2. I love using a natural deodorant when I do yoga because it washes off easily in the shower afterwards. I loooove Weleda’s spray deodorant in Wild Rose.
  3. Confession: I don’t always buy high-end sports bras. I really love Champion for Target’s neon colors and when I need more support, I layer two different colors!
  4. I used to buy running walking shoes based on how they matched my clothes, but recently I went to the Portland Running Co. and had them watch me on a treadmill and make a recommendation and I couldn’t be happier with the fit! (They still match my outfit!)
  5. I always keep a bottle of coconut water in my car, along with a few Larabars just so I’m not starving/dehydrated after class!
image pinned from Pinterest!
Thanks, Krissy! Now everybody go check out Miss B and Hustle! : ) Happy Thursday, Friday’s almost here!
