Local Love: New 2 Lou and The Sport & Social Club

So my buddies Stacey and Amador, owners of New2Lou
had their monthly social at the Sport & Social Club
in downtown Louisville last night.
As usual, we had a blast and even scored some free bowling.

Some photos
and some funny Jim Gaffigan to go with it (SO true):
Although we didn’t bowl so well (who does really?),
we noticed that the scorekeeper also kept track of ball speed.
So then it just became a game of Who Could Hurl  Bowl the Ball Down the Lane the Fastest.
And because I know you’re wondering,
20.2 mph was the record, by Doug, for the record. ; )

Right: Willing the ball to the left. It didn’t work.

If you’re new to Lou (isville), you should totes check out New2Lou
They host fun socials in different locales each month
for you to see great parts of the city and socialize with new peeps!
(They also keep you up-to-date on all cool happenings around the city.)
Even if you’re not new (I’m from here) it’s a good time to be had by all.

Quickie Workout: Vacay Style

When we went up to Harbor Springs for vacay last weekend, I took a few of my TRX Suspension Trainers so that we could work out (if we felt like it). After laying around for hours, you feel compelled to move after a little while… at least I do.

We didn’t want to spend a ton of time with a workout
(there was more lying around to be done and bourbon slush to be consumed)
so Stacey and I did a quickie workout…

…and now I’m sharing it with you.
Because I’m nice like that.

Warm Up Walk (and chat):
Get the body ready for movement and catch up on gossip current world events.
Quickie Cardio:
Light jog into “downtown” and back. 3 miles total. Booyah.
Quickie Strength Exercises*:
Walking Lunges
TRX Low Rows
TRX Pikes
First set: 30 reps of each exercise
Second set: 20 reps of each
Third set: 10 reps of each
Stretch
The run took us about 30 minutes, the strength part took about 15,
and then we were on our way to the showers, then the boat dock.
*Was it planar balanced? No
Is that easily fixed? Yes.
1. Change lunges to Crossing Balance Lunges.
2. Do alternating low, mid, high rows.
3. Change the pike to the TRX Oblique crunch.
BAM.
Check out the TRX Youtube Page
 for videos of the exercises
if you don’t already know them.

Mellow (not really) weekend.

So I have trouble doing nothing. I love to lay around, don’t get me wrong, but when I don’t have plans, I tend to get plans very quickly.

For example, the hubs was out of town this weekend. I think to myself, “Yes! I’ve got ALL weekend to lay around and do NOTHING!”
So Friday, after work, I have lunch with my mom and take the Tang over to play with Dasher.
Saturday I take a trip down to my Dad’s farm with a couple of friends. Then drive to Lexington to see girlfriends from college and their babies.
Sunday I clean the entire house, pick up my new couch and chair (photos to come, eek!), rearrange my living room, make a pie, and cook dinner.
There went my nice, relaxing weekend of nothing. Oh well. I got cute photos out of it. Thanks, again, to Mr. Delatorre!
