How To Road Trip with Your Dog

How to Road Trip with Your dog

Road tripping is one of the best (and cheapest) ways to see the country. Going with your dog makes it even more fun. Road tripping with your dog can feel like a big undertaking, but with a little extra planning, it can be super smooth and ultra rewarding.

My dog Tango has been on multiple road trips with me in our 8+ years together. It’s hard to count how many times we’ve been back and forth across the U.S. and Canada over the years, including a 3 month road trip back in 2015.  I’ve learned a lot over the years and have since honed our routine.

Here’s how to get ready: [Read more…]

Travel Thoughts: Austin, Texas

I just returned from a week in Austin for a work trip and realized while I was having all these thoughts that I hadn’t done one of these ‘travel thoughts’ posts in a long time – several years, to be exact. So without further ado, here’s a list of stuff going through my head whilst cruising around Texas.  [Read more…]

My Top Travel Essentials

Top Travel Essentials

Whether you travel regularly for work or sporadically for pleasure, I believe in being as comfortable and efficient as possible while on the road or in the air. While I don’t think it’s necessary to go out and purchase all these things at once, accumulating them over the years has definitely made traveling easier and more enjoyable. Here are my faves that come with me on every trip I take: [Read more…]

Fit Getaway Recap (& Info for Next Year!)

We had the best weekend in Santa Barbara! We went through quite a few bottles of Prosecco, danced our asses off to Beyoncé, got several TRX workouts in, had lots of good, deep conversation, and enjoyed as much sunshine as we could. At the end of the weekend, I wrote a check to the Santa Barbara Support Network to donate some our proceeds to help after the wildfires and mudslides.

Here are some photos from the weekend and at the bottom of the page, you can sign up to be notified on the next event’s details!  [Read more…]

Kid-Approved Podcasts for (Short or Long) Road Trips

Photo credit & fun road trip games at The Vacation Times

If you’re in the car with kiddos for any length of time this summer, you know that keeping them engaged or occupied (or asleep) is the key to peace and smooth traveling. Podcasts have been our jam lately because they’re free, quickly downloadable, and there’s a plethora to choose from. There are even a few that are as entertaining for the adults as they are for the kiddos. These are the ones our boys, ages  6 & 8, have been loving this summer: [Read more…]

Life. Currently

It’s a big night. We leave for Hawaii for a family vacation in the morning. We live an hour away from the airport so we drove in to the city tonight. Our flight is at 6am (woof) and we have to be there to check in and check bags at 4:15, so the 3:30am wake up tomorrow morning is gonna be a rough one. It’s totally worth it though. I’m stoked to go to Hawaii, as I’ve never been to the big island before and am looking forward to sun on my skin for the next week. We’ve used our hotel points to book the first two nights, then we’re camping all around the island for the next four days, then using hotel points again for our final night (goodness knows we’ll all need showers by that point). All that being said, here’s what else is going on currently: [Read more…]

My Car Needs A Name!

I love my cars. They are more to me than just transportation. Lola, Abe, Mona, and Charli were all like best buds to me. If you’ve been around here for a while, you might remember when Charli, my ’08 Mazda, bit the dust last year on our road trip from San Diego to Canada. I wasn’t ready to replace her for a new (to me) car, but I had no choice.  Although every car I’ve owned had a name within the first week, I just couldn’t think of a name right away for my new Mazda. Nine months later… she still doesn’t have a name. That changes this week. [Read more…]
