How to Rock Out Your Own Extended Road Trip: Part II {The Preparation}

large-1via

After you’ve completed The Planning, your next step in rocking out your own extended road trip is the preparation. Whether your trip will be a month long, or last an entire year, you’ll need to get your ish in order.

My road trip was a little over 3 months and I quit working and moved out of my place when I left, so there was a lot I had to accomplish before I hit the road. It took me about 5 1/2 months to prepare and save money before I left. Depending on the length of your trip and your current situation, here are some things you might want to take into consideration: [Read more…]

How to Rock Out Your Own Extended Road Trip: Part I {The Planning}

largeimage via

In 2015 I stopped working, put my ish in storage, and wandered around the U.S. and Canada for 3 months with my dog, Tango. It was one of the best things I’ve ever done in my life. You can do it too (or something similar). Here’s the first in a 5 part series on how to rock out your own extended road trip! If you start planning now, you could be ready to go in just a couple months… [Read more…]

Christmas Road Trip: California to Canada!

large-2photo via

Tango and I are off tomorrow! We’ll be leaving San Diego around noon and are hoping to get to my man-friend’s in Canada by late Christmas Eve. It’ll be two looooong days on the road, but we’re pumped! Twenty two hours of driving may seem absurd to you, but Tango and I love road trips. And by driving, it means I don’t have to leave Tango behind. Christmas together is worth it! Here’s why it’ll be all good: [Read more…]

What you can squeeze into a weekend in Hawaii: O’ahu

IMG_0394

I’ve been traveling for my job for many years now and get sent all over the United States. I’ve never gotten asked to go to Hawaii until just a couple weeks ago. Knowing the odds of getting sent a second time would be slim to none, I attempted to fit as much in as I could in what little time I had. Booking the earliest flight in Friday morning and the latest flight out Sunday night made this possible. Here’s what I was able to squeeze in to this short trip:  [Read more…]

Krabi is an amazing part of Thailand. It’s an hour flight south, from Bangkok. To get there, you can fly into Krabi, and then take a shuttle to the pier to catch a boat.

Thailand, Part 1: {Bangkok}

I’ve had connecting flights through BKK several times over the past few years, but have never actually been into Bangkok before. Getting invited to speak at a conference there was not only exciting career-wise, but I was pumped to get to finally check out the city.

Off to Thailand!

IMG_0907

It was a 4:30am wake up call today to get everything loaded up, Tango walked and off to the dog-sitter, and to the airport for my flight. I go to San Fran, then Tokyo, then land in Bangkok at 11pm Wednesday evening. I’m very excited to have been invited to present at the Asia Fitness Conference this year. I get to teach my TRX Dance Body workout, a Barefoot Forum with Dr. Emily Splichal of EBFA, and two dance sessions that should be pretty fun. While I’m not looking forward to the 20 hours of flight time ahead of me, I’m excited to get to the conference. I’ll be meeting up with my man-friend who’s currently on his way there. We’ll both be presenting there for 4 days and then it’s on to Krabi for 4 days of rock climbing and deep water soloing.

If anybody’s got recommendations for Bangkok, let me know! Holla!

Video: Ami and Tango – Road trip 2015

image

At the start of this year, my dog Tango and I decided to move back to San Diego after spending the last 5 years at home in Louisville, KY. We also decided that we would take 3 months to road trip the western United States and Canada. We took tons of footage of our journey. Here’s what I could fit into 4 minutes and 32 seconds. ; )
