Yup, I’m doing the "Five Things" post too…

Whatever… everybody else is doing it.
Five things you might not know about me:
1. I used to be an “extra”
That’s not me back there, but that’s what I did…   via

When I first moved to San Diego out of college, I was broke! Getting my foot in the door for fitness jobs was slow going so I made a living (mostly) for about a year by being an extra for TV shows that were shot in SD. I’ve been in the background of Veronica Mars and some telanovelas you have no idea existed.

Side note: Best Job EVER (when you’re 22). Nobody really pays any attention to you, you get to hang out, read books and eat from craft services (when nobody’s paying attention). You walk around behind actors a few times, and you make about $300 for the day. The only drawback is you have to hang around a bunch of wannabe actors that think background work will be their big break (instead of actually auditioning)… it’s not. They’re annoying.

2. I name my cars.

My first car was Lola, a ’90 Dodge Dynasty… however the D and the Y fell off the back, so it just said nasty… Next up was Abe, a ’94 Lincoln Continental. It had an old car phone that didn’t work but was fun to play with. And then there was Mona, my Corolla that lasted far past what she should have. And I think you all know Charli, my current ride. : )

3.  I have a food texture issue which makes me a “picky eater”.

It sucks. I hate being this way, but I’ll seriously gag over most seafood (even though the taste is delicious: shrimp/lobster), pineapples, avocados, etc. It’s not that I don’t like the taste, it’s just the feel of it in my mouth makes me want to hurl.

4. I don’t watch TV on a regular basis… But I STILL love Grey’s

I got rid of cable years ago, but I still keep up with Grey’s online (once every two months when I have to catch up): I’ve been watching it since it began, back when I was in college. Even though there were a couple of crap seasons and it really should be ending soon, (like maybe this season) I still LOVE it. And all the characters. And I remember all those pivotal moments; Pick me, choose me, love me. 007. Izzie cutting the LVAT wire, etc.

5.  I’m a little anal about my discount club card at the grocery.

When I use my discount “club card” at the grocery store (Kroger, Vons, Ralph’s, etc) they always ask for your card before they start to ring you up, but I don’t give it to them until after all the groceries have been scanned. You see the total, THEN you see the new total after all your club discounts. It’s awesome! Sometimes you save over $15! It’s very exciting, but sometimes the cashiers get annoyed with me when I don’t give it to them up front…  Ask me if I care…

Versatile Blogger Award! And some fun facts…

I have received the Versatile Blogger award! Thanks so much to P!inky over at Pinky Persistence for this award. I now must tell you 7 things you didn’t already know about me:

1) I was named after a song.
Yep, Pure Prairie League’s “Amie” is what I was named after. (Minus the ‘e’ at the end. ’cause it’s cooler that way) My dad knew it from the start. He knew he’d have a girl named Ami so badly that when my brother was born first, he didn’t have a name for 5 days. Never heard the song? It’s your lucky day:
2) Count Chocula is my all-time favorite cereal.
Even though I don’t eat it anymore, Count Chocula is and always will be the ish. Chocolate and marshmallows?! Lucky Charms, eat your heart out.
3) I have false teeth.
Hot, huh? Not all false teeth, but the bottom halves of my two front teeth are fake. My brother and I were wrestling in the driveway one night before going to visit my grandma. He put me in a headlock and then tripped. And I went face-first into my mom’s Buick. Effer.
4) I have never been to Disney World. Or Disney Land.
Our family trips were always to the lake or beach so I have never been to either of these places. Did I miss part of my childhood? Maybe. But I’ll make it there at some point!
5) I hate Pineapple and Coconut.
I don’t mind the flavors of these so much (hello, Pina Colada!) but I can’t handle the textures! Same goes for shrimp. It’s solely a texture thing. Can’t explain it…
6) Classic Rock and Classic Country are my favorite music genres.
I grew up listening to all older music on the radio, thanks to my dad. See #1 for reference. I’d be getting ready for elementary school and singing along to the Rolling Stones, George Jones, Waylon Jennings, and Led Zepplin.
7)I hate the feel of feet.
Except for a baby’s foot, everybody’s feel are cold, clammy, and disgusting. If you touch my bare foot on accident, I’ll cringe. If you touch my bare foot on purpose because you think it’s funny, I’ll cut you. Deep. Same goes for if your bare feet touch my skin. Barf. If we have socks on, everybody’s safe.
I will now pass this award on to these awesome ladies:
Maddie Jacks over at Spidatter
Barbara from Dooley Noted
Elyssa, The Wellness Doer
Krissy and Taryn, aka Miss B and Hustle

Stylish Blogger Award!

Thanks Sara, From Le Petit Village . Do you read her blog? Well you should because she cracks my ish up!
Woot Woot! It’s my blog’s first award! I feel like I should take photos or something, like when you document your kid’s first steps. Um, not sure what to take a photo of though… my computer with the blog page up? Anywho, I’m supposed to tell you 7 things about me. I’m not sure what types of things, but I’m going to tell you things you might not already know. Here goes:

1. I’m actually a blonde. “Gasp!” Maybe I’ll prove it to you with my childhood photos one day… maybe not though since I had a horribly large head, buck teeth, and you don’t even wanna know how long it took me to grow into these lips…
2. I’m a very clumsy person in tennis shoes. Doesn’t seem right, huh? Dancer that’s clumsy… But I walk better in 4 inch heels than I do in any type of athletic shoe. And given that I live my life barefoot or wearing Nikes, I trip a lot.
3. I hate running. I know as a fitness professional I should be running marathons and doing Ironman competitions like it’s my job (cause it kind of is) but I couldn’t think of anything more horrible that doing the same movement for 3+ hours. Ick. I get my 2-3 miles in and I’m out and on to the next thing. This doesn’t mean I look down on runners, it’s just not MY thing.
4. My favorites: Song: Over the Rainbow (all versions). Show: I Love Lucy. Movie: The Parent Trap (Haley Mills, original version). Geez, I should have lived in the 50s. Eep.
5. For two months, in San Diego, I used to have to climb a palm tree in order to get into an apartment building every night because I was living in my friend’s living room and couldn’t copy the door key.
6. I once worked for the Louisville Water Co. during the summer (my dad worked there and family members can work college co-ops during the summers) where I wore Dickies, steel-toed boots, and drove around crazy sweeper trucks and right-side-steering wheel Meter Reading Jeeps. It was fun.
7. When I was 19 years old, I dropped all my classes one semester to go to Athens, Greece by myself for 2 weeks. Don’t regret it. I still finished college on time. : )
So there you have it. I will now pass on this award to a few of my favorite bloggers because they are fab and I wish we could all hang out and grab coffee once a week:
Ahnika over at Living With Mr. Johnson
Tash from The Chirpy Bird
Bridget at Tales of Me and The Husband
Carrie of This Free Bird
