Mid-Week Climbing Days!

So my friends Adam and Andrea, last seen here,
have just returned home from spending several months traveling
the globe. Since they’re in the process of finding work again,
they have some free time and
they’re my new go-to buds for climbing mid-week!
A & A
(& fake smiles)
We were able to drive out to the Red River Gorge,
which is a little less than two hours away from Louisville.
The weather was perfect,
we all got a little climbing in,
I got to lead (which I’ve been needing to get back to),

and fun was had by all…
especially the Tang:
I’ve also started making a new “Goin’ Climbin'” Playlist
because there are always songs I want to hear on
the drive out to the Red… or anywhere to climb, really.
Any mellow, but fun songs I should add?
It’s a two hour (ish) drive…
also love me some Jason Tyler Burton!
His ish just isn’t on Grooveshark…

Park Bench

Since it’s an unseasonably warm day (66 degrees!),
and since I overslept and missed my ballet class,
me and Tang went to the park to run.

The best part about the Wilderness Loop
is the bench at the top of the hill,
at the end of the loop.

It’s nice to cool down,
stretch, sit, and chill for a few…

and catch your breath…

How’s your Wednesday going?
Hope you were able to move today!

Island Christmas Tunes

Since I’m officially allowed to listen to Christmas music now, I’ve been burning through my Xmas playlist like it’s nobody’s business. A new addition to this year’s playlist includes this album, perfect for our weekend getaway in the Bahamas:

With artists like Jack Johnson, Matt Costa, and G Love, you’re bound to have a mellow music listening experience. And if you happen to be laying on a beach somewhere in the world (like I am) you’ll appreciate it even more…
Hope you’re enjoying the weekend!

Check Out Time: 9am

Do you ever have a day when you feel like you just need to check out for a few hours? Today was that day for me. I had a couple big things pop up that just completely overwhelmed me, and that I really didn’t feel like dealing with.
I trained my first couple of clients early then had my next couple cancel because of sickness. I came home at 9am to do some work, only to find that our internet still wasn’t working (after two days). I grabbed my purse, Tango, and hit the road. Drove 2 hours southeast to clear my mind and hang with these two lovely ladies for a couple hours:

Christy on the left, Jenn in the middle.
Photo 1: Them sticking their feet in my face because they know that feet gross me out more than anything in the world.
Photo 2: Me: being grossed out more than anything in the world. Them: utterly pleased with themselves.
Both photos taken in college, after a day in the park.
Thank you, friends, for a fabulous check-out day. Even though you suck at photo-taking-niceness, you rule at keeping me company and being awesome. Today helped.
I’ll be back to my normal, in-control self tomorrow. G’night.

Playlist – Relax Your Ish

Not all of my playlists are meant for rockin’ it out with your TRX, dumbbells, or treadmill. Some are meant for stretching, meditating, yoga-ing, or pilates-ing… because sometimes, you just need to mellow out…

This next one is one of those. I have several, each labeled as “Relax Your Ish” 1, 2, 3, etc. on my iTunes. Here’s the latest:
Add Shoot The Moon (Norah Jones) to your list too because it’s AWESOME, beautiful, and relaxing. Grooveshark didn’t have it. Really, Grooveshark?
#4 I solo’d to in high school and Bridget reminded me of it last week.
#8 is by my friend who is AMAZING
#11 takes me back to Johnny’s room in Dirty Dancing… don’t even get me started.
This playlist is dedicated to my BFF, Amanda, who after a gillion years of school, is currently interning AND writing her dissertation. She’s brilliant and will be a Doc soon. – Just breathe, girl. And get that D knocked out so we can hang again. I miss you.

Ben Sollee

I have about a million things to do, so a quick post from me. I saw my friend, Ben Sollee, play downtown last night and I’m always blown away when I see him. He’s a classically trained cellist with a very unique twist and style of his own. Kind of a big deal. His stuff is equal parts mellow and crazy fun. Buy his music on iTunes. Or Amazon. Either way, do it. It’s insane! This is a video of him from when he was on Jimmy Kimmel Live. See? I told you he was a big deal.
Now watch this one. It might be my favorite of his. It mentions California and Kentucky. Sigh.
Check out his website to see if he’ll be near you in the future.

Mellow (not really) weekend.

So I have trouble doing nothing. I love to lay around, don’t get me wrong, but when I don’t have plans, I tend to get plans very quickly.

For example, the hubs was out of town this weekend. I think to myself, “Yes! I’ve got ALL weekend to lay around and do NOTHING!”
So Friday, after work, I have lunch with my mom and take the Tang over to play with Dasher.
Saturday I take a trip down to my Dad’s farm with a couple of friends. Then drive to Lexington to see girlfriends from college and their babies.
Sunday I clean the entire house, pick up my new couch and chair (photos to come, eek!), rearrange my living room, make a pie, and cook dinner.
There went my nice, relaxing weekend of nothing. Oh well. I got cute photos out of it. Thanks, again, to Mr. Delatorre!
