Giving Thanks…

I’m thankful for:

{My health and wellbeing}

There are always days when I’m tired and feeling lethargic… But when I remember that there are some people that don’t have control over their body, that there are soldiers missing limbs because they were deployed and drove over an IED, that people were caught in an accident that left them disabled, I’m able to get my ass up and do something productive. I’ve got the gift of health and I’m going to keep my body in good shape to make sure I take advantage of it.

“Beauty is the virtue of the body as virtue is the beauty of the soul.”  Ralph Waldo Emerson

{My family}

Although I miss them all terribly, it’s great that I have the opportunity to travel to see them for the holidays. Distance is always hard to deal with, but the ease of flying and my ability to have a flexible schedule makes things a little easier. It doesn’t matter if you’re actually IN the same city as the people you love.

“The stars up there at night are closer than you think.” Doug Dillon

{My man-friend and his two sweet boys}

Seeing them makes me light up. EVERY time. I love them so much and being able to see them via FaceTime on a regular basis is still mind-blowing to me. Long distance relationships can be heart-wrenching but the technology of today is certainly my jam. Being able to keep connected is so so important.

“Because now I know what I have been waiting for. I know exactly why the other processes didn’t work.” Nia Vardalos

{My dog Tango and his huge energy}

God I love my dog. I’m also thankful for his hair… ALL over everything. Some people point it out like it’s a nuisance, but I’m just thinking about how one day, his hair everywhere will be all that’s left of him, so I’m grateful that it’s everywhere now. Buying his food and treats, paying for his medical needs each year, and picking up his poo every day… These things are all a part of it. It’s not a big deal. His companionship means more to me than any of this. It’s so incredibly worth it. A million times over.

“Petting, scratching, and cuddling a dog could be as soothing to the mind and heart as deep meditation and almost as good for the soul as prayer.”  Dean Koontz

{Compassionate People}

The world is crazy right now and I love seeing stories of the people that are doing what they can do help out their fellow man. We are all humans. We’re all trying to work to provide a nice life for ourselves and our families. We want to adhere to our personal beliefs, we want to be our best selves, and we just want to be left to live our lives. Seeing the genuine acts of kindness going on all over the world outweighs the hatred and sorrow.

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things on the news, my mother would say to me, “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” ~ Fred Rogers.

May you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving if you’re celebrating it!

Thank you for reading and being a part of my own journey.
